Interestingly, I can run element-desktop v1.11.43 just fine if I build it from source. Something about the installed Void package is meaningfully different from the result of checking out the version tag from git, building, and using `yarn start`.

To clarify, I cloned the sources for element-web and element-desktop, `git checkout` to tag v1.11.43, and built from source the boring way. In theory, aside from launching the application via yarn, the result should be identical. Yet it isn't.
