Cups can usually get away with just specifying the ppd file manually. It doesn't usually support the functions of scanning, etc, so installing a Linux driver for it from them will have unexpected results. If you can find the ppd file you should be able to add the printer.

I haven't gotten pcl drivers to work with cups from HP.
