In fact neither do i have macros.s or macros.S in previous kernels directories. And that's why it fails[1]. You have to add "arch/x86/kernel/macros.s" to list of files to be copied as fedora did. Their first patch contained a typo (capital 'S' instead of 's'[2]. I don' know where debian does handle this though.
