These are beta versions which means that they are not as throughly tested as zsh-3.0.2 and may have serious bugs. This release supports dynamically loadable binary modules on systems which have the dlopen/dlsym interface. You have to give the - --enable-dynamic option to configure if you want to try dynamic loading. This will compile zle and the compctl builtin into a loadable module. You have do `make install.modules' before starting zsh otherwise it will be unable to find the zle module. Dynamic loading is only tested on Linux and SunOS 4. On SunOS 4 the compctl module does not work since it uses symbols from the zle module and I do not know how can I export these from the zle module in a way that compctl will find it. On elf systems this should not be a problem. There is a new builtin, zmodload which can be used to load/unload modules, define module dependencies and declare autoloaded builtins (so that the module is only loaded when it is actually needed). There are several other non-module related changes. See the ChangeLog for more details. The latest release, the zsh FAQ and documentation is available from the following anonymous ftp sites. The first is the official archive site. The rest are mirror sites which are kept frequently up to date. The sites marked with a star may mirror ftp.math.gatech.edu instead of the primary site. The RCS file is trimmed (it become so big that it did not fit on a single floppy) and now only contains revisions since zsh-3.0.1. It has two branches: the zsh-3.0.1 branch contains the final zsh-3.0 release and the zsh-3.1.0 branch the zsh-3.1.0 release.
