Works for me (zsh -f plus compinit) with 5.0.6. Typically the best thing to do in this case is to invoke _complete_debug with ctrl+x question-mark. Do it once in a case that works, then again in the case that doesn't. % rsync % rsync --progress Then up-history to find the trace file names, and compare them with a diff tool to find where the failing case went wrong.
