Hi,
for what it's worth, I used to use the whatis database and grep - this of
course only works as long as your whatis database is up to date.

I presume there must be some non-plus-ultra completion control for "man".

Why install a whatis database when your shell can give your the same? ;-)
How much data does a whatis database create?
What's the tradeoff with this, anyway?
