Regarding the workaround, as far as I can see `zstyle ':completion::complete:python<->#(.<->)#::*' list-dirs-first false` doesn't actually fix the problem. `zstyle ':completion::complete:python3::*' list-dirs-first false` does however, though obviously only for python3.
