Hi,
Reading "man zshmisc", I found this:
ALTERNATE FORMS FOR COMPLEX COMMANDS
Many of zsh's complex commands have alternate forms.
These particular versions of complex commands should be
considered deprecated and may be removed in the future.

Well, why are the forms listed there considered deprecated? Just
curious...
And as far as that "may be removed" part is concerned: I vote for not
removing them :-)
