Both
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ stable main
and
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ sarge main
will result in apt-cache dump producing
Archive: stable, and thus an offering of -t stable for completion.
I'm not sure if this makes it more or less suitable.
