The option is called "equals". "magicequalsubst" is now redundant; it allowed typeset foo= to exapnd , which would include =bar if "equals" was also set. It's redundant because the reserved word interface does that anyway, and in other shells the equivalent of the non-reserved-word interface doesn't do it either. pws
