I still like the date idea, especially for the recent commits. I think using "%cr" for the relative committer date, after the subject is good. It would not make it unique, but only add information. I think for uniqueness, the "HEAD~15" gitrevisions(7) identifier would be useful (instead of the hash). I will post some patch(es) later in this regard.
