Well, looks like a bug. (zsh 3.0.3-test3)

% echo "echo this is ls" > fbin/ls # fbin is in FPATH
% autoload ls
% which -a ls
undefined ls () { }
/bin/ls
% ls | cat
this is ls
% which -a ls
undefined ls () { }
/bin/ls
% ls
this is ls
% which -a ls
ls () {
        echo worked OK
}
/bin/ls
