Some systems have broken nawk which generates wrong signames.h and this causes similar problems. This usually happens on Ultrix, HP-UX, IRIX as fas as I know. I think that this bug must be reproducible with the stoch beta10 as well. This is the reason that ^Z suspension did not work on ULTRIX and some other systems. Get and compile gawk, remove signames.h and recompile. Zoltan
