I can reproduce:
ubuntu% setopt correct
ubuntu% A=$(PWD)
zsh: correct 'PWD' to 'pwd' [nyae]? y
hist.c:1710: BUG: hwget() called in middle of word
zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped) Src/zsh -f
