Thanks a lot Russ!! I finally solved my problems with LaTeX, but I had
a problem rebuilding the format. The problem I had is that LaTeX
checks its version and if it is 6 months old it refuses to rebuild the
format. Is there a more recent LaTeX for p9 port??. Shouldn't anyone
at least take away the check or document the problem?.  In case anyone
is interested, I reproduce here the algorithm to add some hyphenation
patterns for LaTeX in p9:

1) uncomment the desired language patterns in
/sys/lib/texmf/tex/generic/config/language.dat

2) cd /sys/src/cmd/tex/web2c/tex
   rm *.fmt

3) mk install-fmt
It gives errors saying that a file is too old. Go to the file and change
the date from 1999 to 200x

4) repeat 3 once more.

5) You have support for the hyphenation patterns of your language!!.

The little documentation in the 
/sys/lib/texmf/tex/generic/config/language.dat
file makes me think that you need to rebuild
the .fmt files:
	cd /sys/src/cmd/tex/web2c/tex
	mk install-fmt

[9fans] Problems with latex on p9

I am using the tex add-on I downloaded from bell labs. I have been trying
to add some hyphenation patterns for spanish, but without any result.
On other systems I used to run texconfig which, as far as I know 
- edited language.dat
- runned mktexlsr
but doing this to things by hand on plan9 don't seem to be enough.
Any suggestions?.
