Still using my NEC Versa SX, a lowly 400Mhz PII
but fast enough for everything I want to do.

I always use an external mouse if I have a table.

i prefer to buy thinkpads for plan 9 because of ibm's support for linux
on many of its systems, which might increase the chance of driving
most of the devices with plan 9. (it's not completely straightforward
because S3 for instance provides its own driver for the graphics chip.)
the three buttons on board are useful when i haven't space
to plug in a mouse, which hardly ever happens.

unfortunately, you probably need to wait for the sales because
they seem relatively expensive. the sales bring the prices down to near
normal levels.

I upgraded my 560x to a T21 for the same reason (and for the extra mouse
button). But I sometimes wish I hadn't, because the keyboard on the T21
doesn't feel nearly as good.

Still using my Thinkpad 560, 133MHz Pentium. I am, however, thinking
about upgrading it to a NEC Versa 6030X, also a 133MHz Pentium, but it
has an XGA screen.
