I couldn't release the source for vdsqueeze because of patent
applocations (now owned by AT&T). gzip is good enough.

I've never asked the group; guess I should have. I just
used gzip in place of vdsqueeze and 'gzip -d' in place
of vdexpand and rebuilt the installation stuff.
The sources for gzip can be found on the ftp site at
ftp://ftp.ecf.toronto.edu/pub/plan9/forsyth/pub/gzip.tar
This has worked in installs on machines with as little
as 5Mb of memory.
