Here's what I use -- but note the 'clock=229.5' which may be beyond the capability
of your video card.  I use an ATI xpert@work, with a modified mach64ct driver
to support the Rage Pro chip.

eizo6600 = 1600x1200x8				# from manual - 85Hz, 106.25KHz
	clock=229.5
	ht=2160 shb=1632 ehb=1824
	vt=1250 vrs=1201 vre=1204

If you can't find the book by Ferraro,
I found Eric S. Raymond's
"XFree86 Video Timings HOWTO" to be
very helpful if you want to figure them
out yourself.
