they all require work.
choices one and three require much work and fasting.
choice two might require less work but even if not gives you a better computer
as a result.

Hi again,

I am given the following choice of platforms on which to play with
plan9:

hp9000 400 series (68030, 68040)
DEC-Alpha based terminals (UDB with no hard drive)
Sun Sparc-1

My question is how much/little are those usable in a plan9 environment?
Granted I do not know their hardware specs (i.e. graphics card, scsi
adapter if any, etc) how much would I be dependent on an intel machine
to netboot/fileserve off?

My estimation is that as soon as I have a (intel?) machine as a
fileserver and another (intel?) to netboot off I would be able to use
any of the above machines as cpu servers. Is this correct? Has anyone
been building kernels for non-intel architectures?

any pointers to documentation would suffice.

thanks: andrey
