Wrap/create had a bug that was producing
invalid md5sum files in full distribution
archives. In particular, the copy of the
October 14 distribution that our web server
gave out during the month of November has
a bogus set of MD5 checksums in it.
The effect of this is that if you were to
try to install an update, wrap/inst would
complain about absolutely every file in your
system having been locally modified.

To fix this, go to the Plan 9 updates page
(http://plan9.bell-labs.com/plan9/ureg.html)
and replace /wrap/plan9/971556349/md5sum
with the MD5 sum file listed there.
You only need to do this if you installed
a fresh system between October 29 and today.
(Some shuffling on the 29th introduced the bug.)

More specifically, you only need to do this
if the file /wrap/plan9/971556349/md5sum
on your system begins:

  /29000/include/u.h 2f0000004503000000000000868b0100
  /29000/include/ureg.h 2f0000001903000000000000868b0100
  /29000/mkfile 2f0000002e000000000000003e8b0100
  /386/9load 2f000000e0370200000000003c8b0100
  ...

A partial update containing new wrap sources
and binaries can also be found on the web page.
In addition to this particular bug, the wrap
sources fix a number of other smaller bugs.
It also reworks the terminology, hopefully
for the better.

Russ
