slashdot has a rather nice call-graph linkage diagram of
the linux kernel as a map. Like the Internet maps but
for kernels.

plan9 or inferno would look so much nicer than this, it
would be an object lesson in small-is-beautiful.

i spent a few minutes adding code to the loader to list
the non-indirect calls made by all functions in the 9pc kernel.

looking through the output (4453 lines), i suspect it
might look fairly well-structured but i can't be sure
because it's taking rather longer than i'd hoped
to assemble graphviz/dot to let me see it.
it relies on several other packages so i need to import those too.

free software but no free time.
something like that.

I'd like to see it before claiming anything like that.
I can believe it would be smaller, a state map rather
than a world map.

There's a "calls" package on sunsite/metalab/ibilio that did a nice job
with a much simpler, but not trivial, program.  I don't think Plan9 code
is unusual vis-a-vis such a util.
