does the Plan 9 wavelan driver support the (very) old
WaveLAN cards? i'm refering to the pre-802.11 days; the
card i have has an AT&T logo on it, not Lucent.

No, it doesn't.  I believe a driver that more or less worked was written
for a pre 802.11 version of WaveLan, but I'm not sure it still exists.
