You know, when I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, one of the first
things I learned about the illustrious history of that organization was
that it had participated in many different Guerilla operations in
various places around the world, perhaps most notably with the Marine
Raiders in World War II, who participated in commando style operations
on Japanese-held Islands, and members of the Marine detachment at
Peking and the Fourth Marines, who, after the fall of most of mainland
China and the of Luzon and Corrigidor in the Phillipines, respectively,
refused to surrender and took off for the hills (e.g., of Mindanao),
fighting behind enemy lines, living off the land, etc, etc.

Consequently, whenever I hear or read this phrase, `Guerilla
Networking,' I tend to think of Marines, looking worse for wear after
months or even years in the boondocks, standing around at a cocktail
party drinking homemade gin. It's a strange mental image.
