First of all:
- i am newbie to Plan9
- i am newbie to pcmcia stuff
- English is not my native tongue
I have come across a "Compaq presario 1655" laptop (quite old) and I
have installed Plan9 (4ed) from an ISO i have just downloaded. Every
thing seems ok, except for the ETHERNET PCMCIA card. I don't know if
the problem is with the PCMCIA support or with the ethernet card.
When booting the laptop the system prints (copied by hand):
#Y0: TI PCI-1131 Cardbus Controler, 04000000 intl 9
#Y1: No interrupt?
i8259enable: irq 0 shared but not level
intrenable: couldn't enable irq 0, tbdf 0xC005100 for cardbus
#Y1: TI PCI-1131 Cardbus Controler, 04001000 intl 0
Some other things that may be interesting:
- There is no "/net/ether0" file on my sistem (no ethernet card
detected?).
- The output of "aux/pcmcia" is:
pcmcia: opening #y:pcm0attr: '#y/pcm0attr' file does not exist
I have try different configurations for the plan9.ini, including:
- ether0=type=ne2000
- ether0=type=ne2000 port=0x300 irq=3
- ether0=type=ne2000 port=0x300 irq=3 nodummyrr
- ether0=type=ec2t port=0x300 irq=3
- ether0=type=ec2t port=0x300 irq=3 dummyrr=0
- ether0=type=ec2t port=0x300 irq=3 dummyrr=1
Some info i have gathered from my Linux system installed in the same
laptop:
- The PCMCIA controller is TI PCI1131
- The ethernet card is D-Link DFE-670-TXD, which is NE2000 compatible.
It is configured on: io=0x300, irq=3.
It is plugged on socket 0.
Linux uses the NE2000 driver for these.
- Every thing seems OK with these on Linux, i can use the ethernet
card and access my LAN with no problems.
