It will soon be 9 years since plan9 was announced to the world

http://www.lucent.com/press/0795/950718.bla.html

I found a picture of the team here :
http://www.bell-labs.com/history/unix/ltcontributions.html

I made a mock up of a new one here :

http://www.proweb.co.uk/~matt/plan9/curse_of_glenda.html

Seems it's about time to have a new picture taken

:)

Sorry, we were trying for an April fools but this is the best I could manage at 2 mins notice.

Eric Levenez's Unix chart starts the Plan 9 line in 1986. I have it
highlighted on the wall. It runs along without arrows branching into
it for the bulk of the chart, while the rest of the Unix world is a
chaos of incest between all the versions of Unix. It is truly
telling.

It isn't. At least if you consider that most people
are using technology made for the environments in the (early) 70s.

counting tech development generations akin to human ones, I suspect the
incest is more like a small tribe rooting amongst itself a little more
than you'd want, but not actually what claude levi-strauss would class as
full on whack-jobs.

mandatory mating with VMS and CTSS would of course be much more in the
levi-strauss model of tribal anti-incest control..

Damn.
After a nostalgic smile, I suddenly realised
that my (ex-)wife has probably burned my original
copy of the proceedings.

:-(,
