as one who works with pee cees, i'll refrain from calling the
bitsy "old." ☺

"old" is a pervasive epithet with computer platforms
and sw, but i'm not sure it addresses any of the reasons
some bits are better than others.

well, that's a good point. The bitsy is quite cool. But it's still
dead hardware, and if people are going to expend cycles on something,
given the very small # of people who are contributing to Plan 9, it'd
be nice if it would be something you don't have to hunt for on ebay.

they kept changing the architecture and reducing the documentation.
i gave up.

What you need, I think, is a following of zealots with too much
free time on their hands, and some inclination towards coding.
All it takes, I think, is charisma, an inflated ego, and some
inclination towards attracting a following. You have the first,
at least.

do a greenphone or openmoko port? bitsy is so old, it's moldy.

Battery life with a wifi card sucks (3 hours tops I think, it's been a
while).
The bitsy port I installed used a remote filesystem on a plan9
authenticated network so no wifi, no plan9
It worked ok as an mp3 player, I couldn't find much to do with it apart
from that.
It's not plan9's fault though I think, I've never found much use for a
PDA esp. when my phone does most of the PIM functions.

Hi guys
Lately, I've kinda been wanting a PDA, and of course I'd like
to try running Plan 9 on it. I just placed a bid on an iPaq H3650
on ebay, figuring that even if Plan 9 doesn't work for me,
I'd still have a PDA which can apparently run Linux. Anyway,
I don't see too much recent information about running Plan 9
on these things. Can anyone who currently uses it tell me
what I could expect? It seems that audio is working, a major
plus, but how up-to-date are all the applications? How has
your bitsy experience been?

Thanks

John
