I use something like dhog's p9config (/n/sources/contrib/fgb/rc/config)
to have a config.h I also have a modified config.sub, just a "| -plan9" or
something like that.
then I run /n/sources/contrib/fgb/rc/o to create the mkfile
and then I add:
APE=/sys/src/ape
</$ape/config
...
</sys/src/cmd/mk*
CFLAGS=-c -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_BSD_EXTENSION
the mkfiles end up looking like the ones in /sys/src/ape/
