My wheel causes horizontal rather than vertical scrolling when the cursor
is in the horizontal scroll bar, although it's not a feature I tend to use.
It's amazing the passions this issue generates. I'm an old Mac user, and
can't live without a wheel mouse on either Windows or Mac. My mouse also
has a thumb button, which I configured to behave like a middle button,
which was confusing at first, but I soon got used to it.
