i just happened to wonder if there is a user-level
file server which serves the classic pcfs file system.
i have an old 3rd ed. file system and copying all
of its /n/dump to new venti is time consuming.

By pcfs do you mean a DOS FAT file system? If so, just use dossrv.

If by pcfs you mean the old worm file server
running 9pcfs, there's no user-level version.
It probably wouldn't be too much work to move
into user space (that's how kfs happened, though
kfs drops the interesting bits) but it hasn't
been done.

sorry everyone for my confusing word `pcfs'.
I meant the old worm file server by that
as Russ kindly mentioned.
Thank you all.

yup, it could be. i would like to look into this anyway.
it would make a great study to understand some
file system. i hadn't done that so far and i think plan 9
one is way suitable for this purpose compared to other fs'es.

a user process file server running on cpu server (or terminal)
that serves disks which had been used by pcfs once before.
