tex.iso.bz2 is okay now.  it's 40MB like i expected it to be.
the old one was 14MB, somehow truncated.  i was quite amazed
at how much more bzip2 had compressed it than gzip used to,
when i noticed the size discrepancy earlier today.

guess bzip isn't quite that good.
