Hi

I am curious about Plan9, so I download cd image and burn it. I want try
live CD. I boot from CD, and type:

sdD1!cdboot!9pcflop.gz

Because I have CD on slave, on second IDE chanel. But nothing happen!!!
T try also:
sdD0!cdboot!9pcflop.gz
sdC1!cdboot!9pcflop.gz
sdC0!cdboot!9pcflop.gz

and still nothing.

My mobo is Abit KT7A (Via KT133A chipset) CD-RW is Teac and CPU is
Athlon 1200MHz.

What is wrong????

Szyk

ps. K3B reports that Plan 9 cd image size is different than size
declared in cd image header!!!

the plan 9 distribution will only load from the
secondary master. if you download 9atom, it will
load from whatever device booted the machine,
even if that device is not ide.

ftp://ftp.quanstro.net/other/9atom.tar.bz2

Thank you for your reply. But I got error in FF:

550 Cwd failed: '/other/9atom.tar.bz2' directory entry not found

and in Chrome:
B?a;d 605 (net::ERR_FTP_SYNTAX_ERROR): Nieznany b?a;d
Above translated to english:
Error 605 (net::ERR_FTP_SYNTAX_ERROR): Unknown error

And I am not sure what I'm supposed to do with that file - is this patch
for the iso file??????

But problem remain - i can't boot. Below is part of my boot screen:

[..]
Boot devices: fd0 ether0
boot from: sdD1!cdboot!9pcflop.gz
[nothing happen]
boot from: fd0!cdboot!9pcflop.gz
syntax is fd0!file
boot from: fd0!9pcflop.gz
fd0!DOS does not contain FAT file system

So:
How to boot Plan9????

that's unfortunate. it doesn't see your cdrom.
if there's any way you could send me the output
of lspci, that's be great. or just a screenshot
of 9load. you can type "pcihinv" at the 9load
prompt. (as an ode to ken's file server, i suppose.)

The result of "lspci -n" would probably be more instructive since
"lspci" doesn't display the VID/DID.

However, as far I know, this device is 0x1106/0x0571, which should
be already supported by the sdata driver.
So, I don't understand why it doesn't work in your case.

on a "more related than what ever you are thinking of" kinda topc...

i have a two perplexing machine find - more pragmatic to use other
machines then to explore.

the first says "pciconfig failed!", the 2nd loves boot from CD but
resets itself on booting after the install. can i get a quick summary
of fun with loaders? wkli?
