The Savage4-based cards are reasonably well supported.
I use Diamond Stealth III S540s in my desktop systems.
It's a two-year-old card now, but still younger than the 
Xpert98.  If you find another card with a Savage4 chip in it,
it is probably easy to add; the same is not necessarily true 
of the Mach64 chip, which requires a lot more busy work
programming memory timings and such.

Can I assume from the below that my ATI Rage 128 Pro card is not supported?

I have what appears to be a fairly solid Python port.
I've used it for one big project and it's been fine.
Boyd did a backport of it to the currently released 
system a month or so ago.  If you search the archives
you'll find it.

Unfortunately, there are at least two incompatible variants;
when I last tried them, some worked with the Plan 9 ATI driver
and some didn't (even after making the obvious vgadb changes).

I'm trying to install Plan9 on my Dell 4100 desktop (800 Mhz PIII, 128 MB
RAM, Linksys EtherFast 10/100 NIC).  However, the installer complains about
my video card (16MB ATI Rage 128 Pro) not being found in some database.  The
plan.ini and vgainfo.txt files are attached.  If the card is not in fact
supported, I'm willing by buy one (I've already bought the NIC for the
occasion) and would appreciate inexpensive recommendations.  Thanks in
advance for any advice on this problem.
