that error usually means you have a misconfigured ne2000 -type ethernet card.
which card do you have and do you have 'nodummy' set?

thanks that was it. i had created a boot floppy for each distro
and the one for the older distro did not have entries for a network
card and the new one did and they did not include the 'nodummyrr'.

panic: crda write 16382 to 16384

I searched the 9fans archive and did not come up with
anything. This happens when I try to build a system using
the latest _full_ distribution from the download/distribution
web page. The installer works great it just messes up on the
reboot. I have an older distribution that i tried and it
installs and bootes fine.

I do not mind using the older distro and installing the wraps to get
it to the present revision. But this could be troublesome for someone
just starting out with plan9.
