I have a standalone cpu/auth server with fossil (machine m1).
Can a terminal box be booted off m1? If yes, what
are the steps?

fossil needs to be listening to the 9fs port (listen tcp!*!564 on the
fossil console or config file), auth/keyfs needs to be running.
boot from: tcp
then provide m1's name (if resolvable) or ip address when prompted.
see booting(8) for more information :)

Hmm. Wiki seems to be down.
General gist is that your cpu/auth server also needs to be a
fileserver. Then you should be able to use it as a filesystem target
when you boot.
It might be easiest to boot from floppy and hand-type the target to
ensure everything works, then you could try PXE later if you wanted
to.
I'd check Google's Usenet archives until the wiki comes back up, but I
seem to recall pretty clear instructions on the wiki.
