The 154x problem seems to be in the 24-bit addressing mode and its role
in DMA. If you change line 172 in /sys/src/fs/(emelie|plan9pc)/pc.c
from:
#define MAXMEG 512
to:
#define MAXMEG 16
everything seems to come up fine.
