I phrased it wrong. I did not mean a patch to 'ls'. 

Try again. 


I have showed folks union mounts, done an ls, and gotten complaints such
as: when you edit/cat/print a file, how do you know what you're editing?  
My only answer is weak: 'well you did the bind, so you know'.

Is there a better answer?
