I just downloaded the vmware-distribution of Plan9 and installed it. So what
can I do now with this os? Is there a "guide for dummies" somewhere?

There is no "guide for dummies" about Plan 9,
try:
http://plan9.bell-labs.com/wiki/plan9 - not for "dummies" but very useful
for beginners;
http://www.fywss.com/plan9/plan9faq.html - Plan 9 FAQ are also good;
manual pages are very informative.
