I know I should be using fossil.. but
I am using kfs based cpu-server and separate auth
server for a class (remote access via drawterm).
Each user has his own group (account creation time).
Some students were able to create files in /n/ftp
directory (without calling ftpfs) with permissions
r--r--r--, user user and group sys.
I tried to reproduce it but can't, keeps on
getting permission denied. Was it just a glitch?

do you ever do disk/kfscmd allow?
(for instance, when doing a replica/pull)
if so, one explanation is that they happened
to make the file when permissions checking was thus turned off.
