many local links are written as 
[Wiki syntax | http://plan9.bell-labs.com/wiki/plan9/Wiki_syntax]

instead of just [Wiki_syntax] . While the user still can right-sweep
just the last part of the URL, it makes browsing wiki with acme
much less convenient. Would it make sense to fix it and just 
revert to [Wiki_syntax] [what_do_people_think] etc.?

I remember it was once just [Wiki_syntax].
Something happened later, I suppose.   However, the most important
point of it is, probably, Russ has no good interest anymore if he think
his freetime and how the Wiki is used by 9fans.  I think I have sympathy
with him if my guess is right...
