Would anyone happen to have plan9 running on the above video card?
I have a Dell Inspiron 2650 with this card.

unless it's a dual-head card you shouldn't have problems with it.
as it stands, the support for nvidia cards in p9 is quite good.

just follow the instructions for adding new cards to vgadb if
it's not currently recognized...

i have a vgadb that contains all device IDs for the nvidia
cards, but i'm reluctant to advertise it, since i don't have
much feedback on the geforce4 driver patch...

Thanks for your reply. The card is recognized (I think) since
I don't get the `no frame buffer' message but the display
starts doing weird things when rio is starting (pixels
go white in a blotchy display...I haven't let it run till
any errors are generated).

I'll have a look at the vgadb configuration. Thanks. Unless
you think yours might be useful. If so, I would like to
try that.

I run Plan 9 with a Nvidia GeForce2 MX 200, which is similar... I'm
guessing you're still running 3rd ed., as it doesn't work with the
GeForce2 right out of the box. (adding support is really easy though.)
It should work with 4th ed. Give me a little more info and I'll try
and help you out.

Going blotchy means the scan drive got turned off. You're just
watching the charge decay.

Geforce 2 Gos use the second CRTC and RAMDAC for the screen as the
silicon is specialised to drive flat panels. This is what makes Gos
different from normal dual head nvidia chips.

Plan 9 programs CRTC/RAMDAC pair 1.If you connect a vdu to the
external VGA connector you will most probably see a picture.

You need all the hacks I did to make my Inspiron 4100 work.
Unfortunately, that's still 3rd edition. I don't have a date yet when
I shall be converting the laptop to 4th edition, and won't be doing
any hacks before then.

You are welcome to the aux/vga code as it was when I got the
4100 working. There is great similarity between it and the 4th
edition code, but you will not be able to escape having to understand
the nvidia driver, which is done by reading he Xfree86 4 source
as 'documentation'.
