The plumber and pipes are two different concepts.
Plan 9's closest analogue to Unix's pipes is, well,
its pipes. http://plan9.bell-labs.com/magic/man2html/3/pipe
I suspect they're about the same speed -- pipes are memmove
bound anyway.

Hello All,
I'm quite interested in Plan 9, but I have a brief question...
has anyone done any benchmarking of plan 9 vs. UNIX/Linux systems?
Specifically, are UNIX pipes significantly faster/slower than the
plumber system of plan 9? I've looked around for some information on
this, but haven't been too successful...
Thanks,
David Donovan
