i've the variant in use in sources/contrib/forsyth/refer.tgz. see INSTALL.
it could do with much more work (on the strange
source file partitioning, and more seriously on all those fixed-size char arrays),
but at least a few of the ancient problems have been corrected
(limits on list memory size, and a buggy implementation of aho-corasick). i've used it
for years without too much fuss. one difference from earlier ones
is that you're required to use refer/pubindex.

from postmaster@ethel:
The following attachment had content that we can't
prove to be harmless. To avoid possible automatic
execution, we changed the content headers.
The original header was:

	name="winmail.dat"
	Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
