What am I missing regarding CPU or using the command cpu to connect from on plan9 install to another. Is the port different? Drawterm seems to work fine. I just didn’t see an example of setting this up.

From the manpage:
DESCRIPTION
This tool is deprecated and has been replaced by rcpu(1).
Read the docs.
