This name (resolved into 217.70.184.38) is still leading to
the active-dvi project. Is it supposed to stay this way ?

What's the new address to reach ocaml website, then ?

Works here, www.ocaml.org redirects to caml.inria.fr which shows the proper site
(and caml.inria.fr is a CNAME to brion.inria.fr, 128.93.11.23).
Doesn't it redirect to caml.inria.fr for you?

Best regards,

Yes same here, but do you get an HTTP redirect?
This is what I see with wget:

We're building a more business-focused wiki here:

http://wiki.cocan.org/

It has section on, for example, why managers should choose OCaml. And
lists of people and companies available who use it. Also sections on
how to install OCaml on various different operating systems.

I agree with that, and it's true that nobody is happy with the current
caml.inria.fr site.

A complete redesign and reimplementation of the caml.inria.fr is in
progress, and should be completed Real Soon Now. That should provide
a Web site (for caml.inria.fr, www.caml.org and www.ocaml.org) that is
both reasonably modern looking and kept up to date.

There is room for volunteer's efforts in parallel with our efforts, so
if someone wants to resurrect the old ocaml.org, or build a Wiki-based
site for OCaml, you are most welcome and we'll link to your site.

Well, as I've said before, we can host a wiki for OCaml, for free. I
suggest that they need a static site, and a wiki site. Both can
possibly be based on COCANWIKI.

Let me add my voice to this. I have at various points been in the
position of advocating ocaml to non-technical types, and having a
credible web page to point them to is a big help. The old ocaml.org
site looked ok, even if it's content was hopelessly out of date. I'd
personally advocate having a nice looking site hooked up with a wiki
along the lines of the cocan wiki, which looks really sharp to me, and
seems to have a lot of good content.

I very much agree with this. PLEASE let us have the access to the old
page as well. On many occasions, I want to show it to other people
for advertising OCaml!

Would be nice if the old pages could be "preserved".
I do not mean archive it, but use the same layout of the page.

The www.ocaml.org was nice. Just yesterday I wanted to show that
page to other people, and it was not available.

Instead I went to the inria-pages, which are, well...
... very academic in layout.

Could it be possible to maintain the www.ocaml.org with the
pagelayout it has before it was gone?

Would be fine.

Many thanks,
        Oliver

Right. The initial owner of ocaml.org transferred it to me some time
ago and agreed to continue running the Web site for a while. I guess
the "while" is over, so I'll redirect www.ocaml.org to caml.inria.fr.
It may take a few days since I seized the opportunity to change
registrars for ocaml.org. But it should work out in the end.

Better still would be a redirect to http://caml.inria.fr
