Responsibilities
----------------
As a full professor you will lead the research in the area of software 
technology as outlined below. This includes, among others, the 
supervision of MSc and PhD students, and collaboration with other staff 
members of iCIS. This should result in high-quality scientific output. 
Moreover, you are expected to attract research grants, and to cooperate 
in writing joint research proposals with other group members. This 
should result in national and international collaboration in research 
projects, and funding to attract a steady flow of PhD students and 
postdocs. In addition, you will extend and deepen the relationship 
between the section Model-Based System Development of iCIS and the other 
sections of iCIS (Intelligent Systems and Digital Security), as well as 
with other research institutes within the Faculty of Science.

You will contribute to the teaching and management of the master track 
on Software Science, but also in general to teaching within the 
bachelors Computing Science and Artificial Intelligence. In particular 
you are expected to contribute to teaching courses on Software 
Technology and the New Devices Lab. All scientific staff is expected to 
teach at undergraduate level as well.

Work environment
----------------
Software Technology is a core field of research within Computing 
Science. It addresses the study and analysis of approaches to the 
specification, design, development and evolution of software. With a 
focus on program construction, it designs programming and language 
formalisms and methodologies, constructs tools to support these, and 
develops techniques for automated program analysis (e.g., type systems) 
and software generation. The research methods used in t field range from 
mathematical proofs to the development of practical development 
platforms and the empirical evaluation of such platforms. Research 
developments in the field of Software Technology are guided to a large 
extent by emerging technologies and information needs in society, which 
require that reliable software be developed quickly and effectively.

According to the Information Society Technologies Advisory Group (ISTAG) 
of the Commission of the European Communities, Information Society & 
Media, software is instrumental in propagating innovative ideas from a 
scientific research laboratory to profitable application, and hence, the 
software has become the basis for innovation and the prime industrial 
differentiator.

What we expect from you
----------------------
* you have an outstanding track record in international scientific 
research in Software Technology, as evidenced by a solid flow of 
publications in leading journals and/or conferences;
* you are successful in attracting external research funding, as 
evidenced by several obtained research grants;
* you have relevant teaching experience at the bachelor and master 
level, and experience in supervising MSc and PhD students;
* you have the competence and experience of academic leadership with 
regard to the development of educational programs and with regard to 
faculty and academic staff involved in these programs.

What we have to offer
---------------------
We offer you:
* employment: 0,8 - 1,0 fte;
* a maximum gross monthly salary of € 7,285 based on a 38-hour working 
week (salary scale 16);
* in addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% 
end-of-year bonus;
* duration of the contract: 5 years;
* depending on experience, you will be granted tenure either immediately 
or upon a positive review after an initial 5-year appointment;
* you will be classified as a Full Professor in the Dutch university 
job-ranking system (UFO).
