Following up on David Roberts:?? I am in close contact with a truly
excellent category theorist who, until recently, was at Leicester. It is
not just a proposal: action has been taken, and she is no longer
employed there.?? The sheer hypocrisy of claiming to seek excellence by
downgrading to teaching only positions is transparent, as is the sheer
ignorance of the interplay of mathematics and related areas of application.

When the maths department at Bangor was taken over by Electronic
Engineering, they had expertise in error correction engineering, but I
did not notice any special interest in categorical methods, though we
made some lectures available.

The idea that such departments can develop expertise in an area they
have not worked in should arouse academic questioning.
