Sorry if I may have missed this, but is emacs 19.29 sufficent to run
0.30? I saw one message implying you needed 19.30 :(

Yup. You need either Emacs 19.30 or XEmacs 19.13 to run September
now.

Yipes. I used to use moving to the same group to consolidate
ticked articles, so that I don't have a bazillion articles reported
in the group (last - first number is huge, so I keep moving first
up). Is there any other method to consolidate articles other than
doing two moves?

I've now removed the check I introduced in September 0.30. If you
want to move to the same group, you should be able to, I guess...

I would like to be warned if I inadvertently do it. Why don't you add
a variable gnus-move-same-group-warning-p which, if true, causes Gnus
to ask `Really move to same group? (y/n)' and act according to the
user's answer?

I think that (in general) if what the user tries to do isn't
"dangerous" or totally wild, Gnus should do what the user says and not
ask for confirmation. Moving and article to the same group is
something that isn't totally unreasonable, and it's certainly not
dangerous, so I don't think that Gnus should prompt the user.
(Whew! Yet Another Gnus Variable avoided. I'm getting better at
that, I think. :-)
