Does nntp-connection-timeout work for anyone? At least, it doesn't
work for me. It is discussed that with-timeout can solve the problem.
Is with-timeout compatible in all Emacsen versions (Emacs 20.3+ and
XEmacs 20.4+)?

There seems to be a bug in XEmacs 21 (?) pertaining to with-timeout.
And I'm not sure that XEmacs 20.4 has with-timeout. I think people
have had to get the fsf-compat package for XEmacs 21 and install that
on their XEmacs 20.4.
