Some time ago (during the early days of sgnus 0.26, I believe), I
tried out a summary line format that Per Abrahamsen posted to
gnu.emacs.gnus. I decided I liked the default setting better, so I
removed the customization from my .gnus file and everything went back
to the defaults except now there is no visible indentation based on
thread level.
gnus-summary-line-format's value is "%U%R%z%I%(%[%4L: %-20,20n%]%) %s\n"
and gnus-thread-indent-level's value is 4 but my summary buffer looks
like:

It looks to me like the indentation is coming *after* the "]" or ">"
instead of before the "[" or "<" even though the current setting for
gnus-summary-line-format looks like it should put the indentation in
front (which is where I want it to be).
I have removed every setting from my .gnus file that seems like it
could affect this (gnus-thread-* and gnus-summary-* stuff), but
nothing has fixed this problem. Does anyone have any idea what is
going on here?
