Cannot enter group (Gnus 5.8.3/XEmacs 21.1.9)

Cannot enter group (Gnus 5.8.3/XEmacs 21.1.9)

Periodically I get the following error when I try to enter a group
(any group). I have to restart XEmacs -- starting Gnus is not enought
to get rid of it. I really have no idea what causes this. Any help
would be appreciated.

Could you `(load "gnus-sum.el")' to load an uncompiled Gnus?  That
will give me a much more detailed backtrace.
